SPOTLIGHT: Desert Oasis Healthcare – Driving Connections to Virtual Health

DOHC’s mobile health unit care team at their March 11th kick-off event.

Desert Oasis Healthcare (DOHC), an Independent Physician Association and medical group, provides care to over 60,000 patients living in the Coachella Valley and Morongo Basin across Riverside and San Bernardino counties. DOHC joined CalHIVE to expand their patient outreach efforts and connect members to their virtual care programming. To further this work, DOHC launched a new mobile health unit in early March with support of their pharmacy team. The unit will enroll patients with diabetes in remote patient monitoring programs, providing glucometers and other necessary devices. The use of the mobile unit will expand in the coming months and assist DOHC improve accessibility in remote locations and meet the ongoing challenge of a short supply of primary care providers.

Teresa Hodgkins, VP of Clinical Quality Initiatives and DOHC’s CalHIVE program lead shares “Our virtual visits for telehealth consultations, as well as safe office visits, between patients and their DOHC care teams will continue but our mobile unit will allow us to restart our health fairs with employer groups, senior centers, and other community events in a new and exciting way.”
