Valerie Kong
As Senior Manager at PBGH, Valerie manages the state-wide Patient Assessment Survey (PAS) program in California, in which patient opinions and experiences with 176 provider organizations are collected annually from more than 40,000 commercially insured patients. The statewide survey is also leveraged to conduct research and innovate with pilot projects such as the development of a telehealth experience survey during the COVID-19 pandemic. Prior to managing the PAS program, she supported PBGH’s national strategy to advance patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) and a project to develop patient-reported outcome performance measures (PRO-PMs) for oncology care funded by Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). Her background working with providers on quality improvement projects provides insight to survey design, measure development, and burden and feasibility assessment.
Valerie is also responsible for building effective communications outreach to promote widespread adoption of PROMs.Prior to PBGH, Valerie facilitated project teams including front-line providers and senior clinical leaders in quality reporting and process improvement initiatives at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Brigham Women’s Hospital, Commonwealth Care Alliance and On LokSenior Health Services. Valerie received her Bachelor of Science in Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Studies from the University of Southern California and holds a Master of Public Health from Boston University.
