PBGH is pursuing a number of initiatives to improve orthopedic care. Hip and knee replacements are increasing in volume and contributing to the rise in health care costs. PBGH has supported the California Joint Replacement Registry (CJRR), a project designed to collect and share data to provide credible feedback to orthopedic surgeons, hospitals and patients about their treatment decisions, quality of care, and patient outcomes. The long term goals are to improve treatment decisions and care delivery for patients receiving joint replacements. The CJRR is a joint undertaking by PBGH, California HealthCare Foundation and the California Orthopedic Association. In 2012, CJRR will be adding 6 additional participating sites, so that by October, 2012, the CJRR will contain 9 sites, representing 10-12% of hip and knee replacements in CA. Initial focus will be on high volume and hospitals that are part of a large network. Contact Director Kate Chenok at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
