Membership PBGH members represent a wide range of industries and public sector employers. They are actively engaged in shaping the health care marketplace as one of the country's most influential business coalitions. Together they represent approximately 3,000,000 employees, retirees and their families and nearly $10 billion in annual health care expenditures. They are dedicated to finding pioneering and progressive solutions to the health care issues facing purchasers today. PBGH gives its members the opportunity to meet with and learn from their peers on a regular basis to share concerns and solutions to a variety of emerging and challenging benefits management and human resources issues. This hands-on involvement also includes participation in committees with representatives from health plans and the provider community to collaborate on marketplace solutions and for a frank and open exchange of ideas and points of view. Members derive the following benefits from their active involvement with PBGH.
To join PBGH, an employer must have at least 2,000 benefits-eligible lives in California. PBGH members may not be a part of the health care industry, including consultants, insurance companies, health plans, hospitals and medical groups.
